Witnesses from Africa
Mgr Eugène Cyrille Houndékon (Secretary of the Conference of Bishops of Benin and Bishop of Abomey) and Brother Fiorenzo Priuli (director and surgeon at "St. Jean de Dieu" Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Tanguieta) participated to the meeting connected to the photo exposition "40 years for Africa" in Merano.
"The GMM is working on the main human needs: water, health, education", said Mgr Houdékon. Brother Fiorenzo Priuli narrated his 43 year long African experience. He dedicated his life to improve the Fatebenefratelli hospital and to train local doctors and surgeons.
"It is a life of sacrifice, but it's the most wonderful thing - he commented - For a long time I used to think about the day when I finally was able to quit and go home. Now, instead, I hope to stay here as long as possible so that the young doctors I am training can start from where I arrived, and not from where I started".
